Christmas

(back-dated due to the fact that i couldn't get into the blog at all during the entire christmas.)

got this paragraph from the bulletin cover page for Christmas service last sunday during church.

Christmas is not about all the things
we bring to the celebration.
Christmas is about what He brings.
Christmas is about a God in Heaven
who loved us enough to send His Son
to die for us
- Randy Vader-

while we kept saying things like, "i don't feel like it's Christmas," or "there's no Christmas mood," etc etc, maybe like what is written above, we've already forgotten why we've been 'celebrating' Christmas.

it's the Christ of Christmas we celebrate, not Christmas itself. Ponder Him!
- 20th Dec, Our Daily Bread, Christmas Edition-

how long has it been since we've really celebrated the birth of our Saviour?

mid-Fall season ramblings...

well... it's about time i gave some mid-Fall season reviews...

in case you're wondering whether it's possible to watch 19 different anime in one week, the answer is YES!

it's not that difficult really, considering that many subs dun come out immediately the next day, and you still need time to actually download the subs too. they are also a few series which i watch by batch instead of a per episode basis.

hmm... let's see, my week starts from...

SUNDAY

One Piece - definite must watch once the subs are out. we're now into the main StrawHat VS CP9 part in Water7, so things are getting more exciting. my take is that filler episodes are probably underway once the Water7 arc finishes for the anime before they start the next story arc.

Kin-iro no Corda - story's pretty evenly paced, not very slow nor draggy. set to be 25-epsiodes long, who knows, they might end up following the manga story plot to the end.

Marginal Prince - sad to say, i'm quite disappointed with the way the story is turning out. though this is supposed to be story by story, there's not much substance in the plot. the songs which the characters sings halfway between each epsiodes are way too cliché. but since it's gonna end soon, i'll stick around to finish up the series.

MONDAY

Pumpkin Scissors - not bad, i like the way the plot is going, even though it's still on a 1-story per episode thing. there's still lots of things to uncover from the characters, like more on Orlando's past, Alice's engagment etc etc. my guess is they'll be going into a major story arc soon.

Tokimeki Memorial - yup, still hanging on to this female harem series. somehow, still enjoying the story so far.

TUESDAY

D-Gray.man - 2nd most favorite in this season, not counting the long anime like One Piece or Bleach. would loved if the pace was slightly faster, but still, always a definite must watch once the subs are out.

Death Note - one of the least favorite, usually watching by batch. i dunno why, but it just doesn't seem to get me piped up enough to swoon over it. maybe it was the very slow pacing in the beginning. ep10 seemed to have picked up a little more speed, but who knows, it might slow down again towards the middle.

Yamato Nadeshiko - No.1 brainless anime this season. the chibi versions of all the characters are getting way too cute. and the way Sunako swoons over blood and gore, yet fears all things bright and sparkly is just too funny to resist.

Shonen Onmyoji - No.1 favorite! i love this anime!! i'm thinking whether it has anything to do with my interest in mythology, since there's lots of japanese and some chinese mythology involved with all the onmyoji and their shikigamis. either that or it's just the historical japanese setting.

WEDNESDAY

Bleach - way boring now with the Bounto Arc fillers. hoping for it to end asap. end, END, PLEASE END!!

NANA - slow-paced, as usual. but still watching it nontheless. the OP and ED are fantastic though. loved the latest ED, kuroi namida by ANNA.

Yoake Mae - 1st of the 2 anime that are on a 12-episodes run. what i can say is, thank goodness it's only 12 episodes. the plot is just not solid enough for it to last any longer.

Busou Renkin - as i've said, it has gotten to the draggy and really ridiculous part of the story. i'm going through this series as i am going through Bleach now. fast forwarding to the few major parts in the episode, while the rest i totally skip. record time for finishing one episode: 5min. awaiting more promising ending.

Code Geass - another one which i would prefer a much faster paced storyline, but still good enough for me to continue watching. usually batched up to watch a few episodes at a time.

Sumomomo - somehow, this loses to Yamato in its brainless-ness. it started out alright, but seemed to lose some of the funnyness towards the middle. but still looking forward to more laughter in the latter episodes.

Asatte no Houkou - 2nd of the two 12-episodes anime that is ending in 2-wks' time. halfway through the series, i seriously thought about dropping it. but perserverance proves fruitful. this is one series that you have to stay on to like it. and yup, i like it.

FRIDAY

Bakumatsu - oooh!! the one anime i didn't get a chance to give a proper summary. as the title given, story is set in the Bakumatsu era, with a ronin in search of something called hasha no kubi that is the main key in the war.

like kenshin, there's lots of interlinking between historical events and also familiar names like the shinsengumi, sakamoto ryoma, katsu kaishu etc. unlike kenshin, there's lots more supernatural involvement, like the mysterious hasha no kubi, which is the centre of the whole story.

i LIKE!! i like war-epics, and this is set right in the middle of the only era i'm familiar with in japan history (thanks to kenshin). and i love the artwork since it came from the same people who did Witch Hunter Robin.

SATURDAY

Saiunkoku
- story is progressing slowly, and even had a month in which there were no episodes aired at all. hopeful that ryuuki would have more airtime even if it is wishful thinking. the one good thing is that Koyasu-sama has joined the seiyuu team, though he's voicing the baddie in this story arc. *sighs* oh well, you can't get the best of both worlds.

Ayakashi - usually the last one to be watched and which is usually batched. story is quite confusing, which is why i usually batch up to watch so that i can get the story straight. i'm hanging onto it.

Katekyoshi Hitman Reborn - latest anime i picked up just a week ago. just one of those random ones which i read the reviews and decided to try watching.

male lead Tsuna is told that he's the next heir to a large mafia organization by his home tutor. the tutor is really a baby called Reborn, sent by the mafia boss to train Tsuna.

it's really not that bad. and the story seemed funny enough to stick around to. too bad the subs are very slow, up until now, only 4 episodes have been released so far.

--------------------------------------

right, that pretty much sums up all i have to say about the current fall animes.

the only anime i've dropped so far is of course, kanon 2006. i'm sorry to all the kanon fans out there, but isn't it just way boring the way the story is turning out... =P

more on my eye ulcer...

this is what, my 3rd visit to the eye doctor. mind you, all 3 times i went, it was 3 different doctors who did the respective check-up.

however, i'm quite impressed with the way they did the follow-up. either their case sheets are written well, or they just get by with whatever they can.

eye ulcer is healing well, and up to this point, my vision is almost completely back in the right eye. i would gauge it at 90%. now, it's just slightly blur compared to the last few days when i almost couldn't see much past my right eye.

thank God for that.

though i'm still quite sensitive to the sun (eyes gets painful under sunlight), hoping that with another day's rest, i would be well enough to join the church camp tomorrow, or monday. my group is very weak! they need help!!

another check-up due on monday morning...

Thursday, 7 December 2006

eye ulcer...

just the word itself already makes my hair stand... but that's what exactly i have right now on my right eye...

initially, when i went to see my GP yesterday afternoon, she discovered that somehow or another, i managed to scratch my eye ball (the brown part), and there was a minute abrasion on it... probably got the abrasion when i was trying to dry the tears that kept flowing out... that was the reason why i kept having the eyelash-in-my-eye feeling... sent me off with antibiotic eye drops and for me to see an eye doctor if it doesn't get any better by today...

today, though it wasn't so painful, the vision in my right eye is totally blurred... so, to be on the safe side, went to see the eye doctor at Jurong Medical Centre (opposite JP)...

imagine my surprised when after the check-up the doctor concluded that there is an ulcer on my eyeball!!

ewww... i know... sounds scary right...

she even did a scrapping of the ulcer to be sent off for bacterial culture... (which hurts very badly!)

she gave me stronger antibiotic eye drops, to be instilled once every hour, and for me to go back for check-up the next day... am supposed to bring my contacts, and lens solution for her to be sent to the lab, cos she suspects it's due to my contact lens that might have caused the problem.

hopefully by tomorrow my eye will be better, and i'm praying at least for my vision to be restored alittle... now looking through both eyes, everything on my right side is still a blurry vision... like as if there's a translucent thing covering over my right eye...

but, i am thankful that at least i'm not working from tomorrow until monday... at least, there's time for me to rest...

i want my vision back...

*sighs*

the next few weeks anyone see me, i'll probably still be wearing my specs... i need to fit a nicer pair of specs...

although it's not as pink as the VGN-FJ78GP, and of course, specifications-wise, still loses to it, but still! for $1,999, it's already a very good buy...

wahahaha... i'm so proud of my new laptop...

wished i still had my pink panasonic mobile... they would've totally complement each other...

*sighs*

furuba ending and nonsense...

finally... really really finally... Takaya sensei finally ended Fruits Basket last week in the latest issue of Hana to Yume... i'm sure many are very glad that it's finally over. and compared to other manga endings, furuba didn't have an anti-climax feeling, though they are other people who feels it's too perfect an ending.

but hey! it's manga... u should have the perfect ending... make the readers happy and all...

-------------------------------------------------

in other nonsensical matters...

had my block leave 2 weeks ago... family had the whole house repainted...

and now, with the school holidays in full force, many staff are on leave and we're starting our much dreaded last month of 2006 at work... lots of things to do, and many things to cover for those that are away on long leave...

i'm more dreading when my colleague goes on ML (maternity leave) after december cos den i would have to cover her work until she comes back 4 months later... 4 MONTHS!! i hope my machine doesn't break down that often during those 4 months...

i'm already dreaming abt the 1 week leave i'm having at the end of jan next year...

of course, with the start of december also comes all preparations for christmas celebrations... with church, the many events all start piling up from the 2nd week all through until new year's...

thank God i managed to give away my Christmas Day duty at work... i'll be very sad if i had to work on one of the most important days of the year...

live-action Death Note

one big resentment about the movie... and i attribute it to the movie makers wanting to appeal more to the general population...

they didn't tell us the real reason why Light wanted to use the death note... AKA complete world domination... to become "god" of a new world order...

they made it seems as if he was doing it for the good of everyone by killing off those that weren't brought to justice or served enough punishment for their crimes...

but i think many would agree that part of the reason Death Note appeals to people is that instead of the "hero" character that most stories have, this one has an "anti-hero"; one that instead of wanting to do good everywhere he goes, is more interested in himself and him the "all-mighty"...

i should say i'm glad i haven't started reading the manga yet... or i might be hating the way the movie differs from the manga... i've only watched 3 episodes of the anime and already i have much to say about how different the movie is from what i've watched...

*shrugs*

at least the movie got me more interested in the anime... especially with the anime being in such a slow pace... i haven't even see the whole face of L yet!

in any case...

a little trivia for those that have watched both the live-action movie and anime of Death Note...

did u realized that the same seiyuu voiced for the shinigami Ryuk in both??

heehee...

thot that was a nice touch...

Fall Anime 2006 Part 2

i'm late, but anyway...

here's part 2 of Fall 2006...

more KIV (keep-in-view) series here than part 1 which contains mostly my sure-watch series...

Pumpkin Scissors
latest GONZO series, set in post-war time, where military group "Pumpkin Scissors" is assigned to gather information and clear up all the left-over damage caused during the war. although they seems to be doing much more than their assigned duties, since their female captain juz happens to be an adrenaline-fueled justice avenger. add in mysterious male lead and it's all set to be a decent series.

hmm, others have said that it has a FMA feeling to it, but since i haven't watched FMA myself, i can't comment on that. but i do like war-time story plots, attributed to my gundam (Wing & Seed), rahxephon and zegapain obsession.

the plot itself looks decent enough, art and animation is very good, especially the fighting scenes. so all in all, probably nothing to stop me from finishing til the end.

Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion
futuristic japan is taken over by the Britannia empire, and is known as Area 11. angst main lead is bent on fighting against the empire and obtains power from a mysterious girl, which he uses in the ep1 to order the empire troop that was chasing him to shoot themselves. (eewww!)

not forgetting to mention the best friend that for some reason, surprise surprise, seems to be with the Britannia empire military. how will the two friends fight it out? what is the ulterior motives of the best friend in being with the enemy military?

did i mention that CLAMP did the character designs?!!! straight from the heart, that's really my main reason why i'm watching this. thank goodness the plot isn't half as bad and the mechanics looks pretty promising too.

Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto
no summary cos i haven't seen it yet. but from the trailers i've seen, it looks pretty good.

i can't believe no one is subbing this yet. this has gotta be the only one out of all the rest that i haven't seen yet i'm dying to take a look.

because of rurouni kenshin, i'm really interested in the whole bakumatsu era. youtube.com already has the raws, but my japanese lang is not good enough to pick up most of the terms.

argghhh!!! someone please sub this!!

Shonen Onmyouji
young onmyouji-in-training can't see the spirits which he's supposed to be fighting against, making him quite embarassed considering that his grandfather is the famous Abe no Seimei. one day, he meets the shikigami that used to belongs to his grandfather. with the shikigami's help, he began to see the spirits again, and from then on, start his official training.

i like this one, maybe cos of it's set in olden day japan, which i like very much. once again, i'll credit that to too much rurouni kenshin. i watched and read RK at least 2 times.

it also has another similiarity with D.Gray-man in that it's sort of an "exorcist"-type of show. in any case, this is definitely a keeper for me.

Sumomomo Momomo
ahaha... another brainless show. but this one is really funny, and even better than Yamato Nadeshiko. slightly more ecchi than others, but still, that's where all the funny parts come in.

fighting girl bent on getting a guy to make babies with him so that they can produce the strongest kids to carry their bloodline and their fighting style. guy is not only uninterested, but is terrified of fighting, and instead, aspires to be a policeman.

did i mention that this show is hilarious? it really really is. so please do check it out.

-----------------------------------------

KIV series...
KIV meaning, the possibility of dropping them a half-way, or even after a few episodes are high...

Kanon
1st KIV anime is this remake of the highly popular 2002 version of the original Kanon. after 7yrs, guy returns to a city where he spent his childhood. enters girls whom he seemed to have met in the past. and of course, he gotta have partial amnesia and forgotten some childhood memories that connects him and the girls he meet.

well, like i said, i'm getting slightly tired of the whole female harem routine. and kanon just fit nicely into this genre. however, because of all the big fuss it's making in the anime world, i'll probably watch a few more episodes to see how it goes.

probability of dropping series: high

Asatte no Houkou
2 female leads, one a young woman, the other a young girl, exchange their ages when they pray to the same rock shrine. the link between the 2 leads is the guy who is the young girl's brother, and used to date the young woman before leaving her to take care of his sister.

another ep1 where all the main characters were introduced and a brief background was given on why the male lead left the young woman. bordered on slow and almost boring. however, i'm slightly interested to know the developments of the 2 female leads since the end of ep 1 was when the two just exchanged their ages.

probability of dropping series: medium

Busou Renkin
male and female leads fighting against enemies called Homunculus (made from alchemy) with their own alchemy, the Kakugane. male lead he tried to save female lead from being attacked by a Homunculus but was killed instead. in replace of his heart, he was given his own kakugane by female lead.

from viewpoint of the manga, it was quite a disappointment, given that the mangaka is Watsuki Nobuhiro who gave us Rurouni Kenshin. but i watched ep 1, and it wasn't half as bad. but also because they haven't gotten to the draggy and really ridiculous middle part of the story.

still, i might keep going on this series if the jokes and funny parts are still acceptable.

probability of dropping series: medium

Ayakashi Ayashi
lots of supernatural fighting happening in japan during the Tenpou era (1830-1844). special group of people, which includes the male lead, having the ability to fight against spirits coming from the spirit world. male lead also seems to be part of a group of people that are discriminated by the higher-end society in the show. *shrugs* typical.

not that good for a first episode, mainly cos it was quite draggy. another introduction episode is how i would round this.

but since it's taking a much coveted timeslot on sat, it is rumored to be quite a lengthy one too (maybe a year or so), and there are high expectations for it to do well. at least the art animation is good. something to look forward to when all else fails.

probability of dropping series: low

Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na -Crescent Love-
moon princess comes down to earth for exchange program and lives in same house as male lead as his sister is the ambassador assistant. the two may have met when they were kids, though the guy doesn't seem to remember.

another female harem show, though this one doesn't repulse me as much as Kanon did. both leads don't look like the angsty types, so there might be hope left for this.

probability of dropping series: low

-----------------------------------------

well, this sums up most of the Fall anime i'll be watching for the next 3-6mths. might pick up a few others along the way, but as it is, i'm quite loaded with what i have now, plus the long-running ones like One Piece, Nana, Bleach, etc.

with such a packed Fall season, i'm expecting Winter 2006 to release lesser series, especially since most of the fall series are 26-episodes long. we'll have to see when the time comes...

Fall Anime 2006 Part 1

ok, part one of a very long list...

it'll be too draggy to put all in one entry... plus, i'm not fast enough to come up with a complete list at one go...

Kin-iro no Cordo ~primo passo~
based on a popular RPG game, the story revolves a school music competition. while the female lead is not musically inclined, she is given a magical violin (by a little fairy no less) that allows the user to play it beautifully, and forced to join the competition.

bishonen-galore, the art and character designs are up to standards. lots of shojo moments, and since it's based off a love-stimulation game, focus is not only on the female lead and one male lead since there are a few others to choose from. i am also reading the manga which is currently serializing in LaLa. will definitely be a keeper.

Marginal Prince
another bishonen-filled anime. this time, based off some cell phone dating-simulation game for women. story revolves male lead that is sent overseas to study art in a all-guys' school that is virtually hidden from the world in a small island. enters stories of all the beeyoootiful guys in his school.

not much happened in the 1st episode except for all the character introductions, and plot is still unknown to me. will haf to review more episodes. but given the amount of cute guys, it'll definitely be a keeper for me.

Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~
as all female harem anime, male lead transfers to new school, where he interacts with the girls he meet and of course, falling for the most unreachable one that, of course, every guy already has their eyes on.

ok, this is probably the surprise one in the list. i never expect that i'll like this. given i'm actually getting tired of the female harem routine. not that i dun still watch them, but i'm more into male harem now.

mwahaha, looking at my choices of anime now. my first 2 shows are already male-harem oriented. but this is actually good... will be sticking by this for awhile to see how it turns out.

D.Gray-man
young exorcist male, together with his fellow exorcists, goes around fighting against the Millennium Earl and his akumas, created from human spirits he captures.

OMG! i'm regretting not read the manga yet, cos this is really good! the 1st episode already had me hooked through and through. although i might be biased since i've juz finished Trinity Blood which has a similiar plot. in fact, i much preferred this to...

Death Note
yes, as much as i prefer D.Gray-man, Death Note still has its draws.
ambitious guy, who wants to be the new "god", sets to bring a new world order as he pens names in a shinigami notebook that can kill anyone whose name is written on it.

what is it with people and complete world domination??

not much to say, cos it's probably one, if not the most, anticipated anime to come out during fall 2006. the 1st episode wasn't as fantastic as i imagined though. well, it's still only episode 1, so things much pick up after that. looking forward to yamaguchi kappei's L character to appear.

fyi, the movie version is due out in sg next week. WOHOO!

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge
4 beautiful bishonens, in order to get free rental on the mansion they live in, takes on the ultimate task, to transform the landlady's niece from ugly hag to beautiful lady. well, technically, the female lead is not ugly, she juz needs alot alot ALOT of work to be done on her. which is where the bishonens comes in.

every season, there is bound to be a few brainless anime that will appeal to closet bimbos like me. this season, the 1st one up is yamato nadeshiko. quite entertaining, and i love all the SD scenes. i'm expecting more laughter as they continue to transform her into a lady.

----------------------------------

now for some that i've watched which i think is not worth watching after the 1st episode, and definitely not for keeping... yes, it's just me, so if you like it, that's really just you...

Lovely Idol
this, is a total waste of time. girls trying, struggling to break into the idol world. not much plot. the songs are not as good, and most of the girls are juz plain too weepy. uuggghhh....

it could be also factored to the idol thingy. reminds me too much of the many stupid idol contests. american idol, sg idol, project superstar, star idol, etc. eewww...

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru
guy dress up as a girl to attend a girl school. enters lots of other girls literally flinging themselves on him, not knowing that he's in drag.

ok, so this is not Strawberry Panic. but judging from the character designs, it already looks like as a strawberry panic in disguise. even the characters looks similar. i'm not into shojo-ai, so that's probably why i dun like it. even if it is not real shojo-ai to begin with since the lead is in fact a male.

change in wind direction (FINALLY!) has brought clear clear skys to singapore... i'm sure everyone is glad that we can finally see our high-rises clearly even at night...

so much for my multi-billionaire suing proposal yesterday...

------------------------------

anyway, 1st week of fall anime just ended... i've d/l at least 10-13 of the new anime series that have juz started... will go thru them and see which ones are worth the watch...

summary will be up later...

Saturday, 7 October 2006

if i were a multi-billionaire...

if i were a multi-billionaire...

i would start suing our neighbouring country...

i will sue them so much, they wouldn't even have the money to buy matchsticks to burn their land...

i will sue them so much, that the only way they can even light a fire is by using the most ancient methods....

so they pretty much have 2 choices; either by rubbing wood against wood, or striking 2 rocks against each other...

if i were a multi-billionaire, i would so so SO sue them...

FYI, the PSI as of 2pm, is 91...

at 10am, it was at a freaking 130... ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY!!!

i've been experiencing headache, eye irritation, throat irritation and juz plain displeasure at the whole haze thing... i can't go outdoors without complaining to everyone i meet how bad the haze is... and repeating it over and over again...

things had better start improving soon...

tired from shopping...

all in all, bangkok was a fruitful trip...

i dun think i've walked so many shopping places in the span of four days before... where really, all u ever do when u wake up and start ur day is to go shopping and shopping and more shopping...

thankfully we still had good dinners and of course, my long-awaited thai traditional massage on my last nite.... gosh... the massage was so good i fell asleep halfway through the thing... my legs especially, felt very energized after the 1hr was up...

but still, it was a tiring trip...

well, at least we didn't have to wake up very early every morning... clearly, since we're on a shopping trip, there's no use of waking up early since we dun have to go sight-seeing or anything...

anyway, i'm glad to be back in sg... i doubt i can survive in thailand anymore with all the foreign language and foreign signboards... i can't understand a single thing there, and neither can most of the people understand what i'm saying too...

and if u think the traffic condition in malaysia is bad, thailand is the worst...

*sighs*

i am juz happy to be back on sg streets on tuesday nite...

Thursday, 14 September 2006

why oh why....

why are there such things as lizards around... it's one of the many questions i'm bound to ask God when i meet Him...

another encounter with another lizard... this time, right in my room!! mind you, it's always these rare occasions when the whole house is empty except for me...

as i was happily watching my anime in the room, i saw sudden jerkish movements on the wall beside my bed... horrors of ALL horrors, there was a HUGE lizard on my wall... and it was getting very close to my soft toys that were on my bed, leaning against the wall!!

of course, i was already backing away in my chair, up to the point of where my door is, but still keeping a lookout for the lizard... and it seems to be playing a game of somewhat... crawling up and down the wall... sometimes, it went so close to my soft toys, i thought it was gonna make a jump at them...

arrrggghhhh!!!!!

where was my dad when i need him most desperately!

called my parents... wherever they are, they must do all means to come home ASAP so that my dad can come and catch the lizard immediately...

the waiting period, though i think it was juz a mere 15mins, was an agony for me... wanted to make a run to save my soft toys, but was paralyzed with fear that the lizard might jump on me if provoked...

i was near to tears...

and i really was so frightened that i cried... and that was when everyone (my parents and joyce) was back home... maybe it was relief, or maybe it was because nobody (actually juz my parents. my sis, she could empathize) seemed to see the seriousness of the matter... hello! u would cry too if i lock u in a room with ur most fear nemesis running astray!!

anyway, dad managed to, after 10mins of bending around my bed, catch the lizard... although catch is probably not the right word to use... as the lizard was running very fast, my dad squashed it flat with one of the bedpost as it was trying to go past, literally...

not a very pretty sight... or so joyce says... i was still stuck at the entrance of her room ever since my dad started the lizard-hunting... the lizard's stomach was flattened and apparently burst/squashed open or something...

ughh....

so ends another terrible encounter with lizards...

ugghhh....... shudders juz thinking abt it...

*thinks back*

is this my second entry abt lizards already????

ugghhhhh.......

Forbidden City

i am so glad i decided to watch Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress.

so so SO glad i finally got to watch it on yesterday night with meow meow... it's was so good, i went to buy the soundtrack during the intermission... have been listening to it on my mp3 player whenever i have the chance...

Kit Chan sang very well, Hosanne Leong and partner were the funnymen, and there was a cute little emperor Tung Hsu that only had one line in the whole musical...

the only thing stopping me from enjoying it thoroughly was this hyperactive moving head in front of me belonging to a ACJC boy...

ugghh....

the worse thing was that he so wants to talk to his friends on either side of him (hence the hyperactive moving), yet none of them seems to want to talk to him, thus giving him single-sentence answers...

hello... get the hint and stop moving already!!!

*coughs*

but of course, other than irritating ACJC boys, the whole musical went very well... we even had quite good seats...
unlike when i went to watch Snow.Wolf.Lake where i could barely make out who's who at the stage, i could at least see Kit Chan, and not cos i looked at the program to know she's coming out at that particular scene...

i'm getting hooked on Dick Lee's musicals... wondering what is gonna be showing next...

ps. countdown!! 2 DAYS!! 2 DAYS to bangkok trip!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHHH!!!!!

HanaKimi taiwan TV drama

yup... it's official... taiwan is gonna start airing the live version of hanazakari no kimitachi e (affectionately known as HanaKimi) sometime in the month of september... discovered the news when i was randomly looking at Hisaya Nakajo's official website...

as such, i'm still debating on whether i will be watching... i mean, HanaKimi is one of my favorite manga... but knowing taiwan pple, the show is gonna be mutilated... badly...

look wat they did to the very 1st manga-converted show, Hana Yori Dango... the 1st season was good... the 2nd part was terrible; not only did it not follow the manga, lots of other rubbish things were added in...

so u can see why i'm very doubtful abt the HanaKimi live version... hmm.... well, i still haf some time to think abt it...

fyi, for moo moo's sake... ella is the female lead...
well, juz so u noe...
*shrugs*
not that i think it'll make any difference...

birthday greetings...

september seems like quite a busy month for birthdays...

anyway... our very own birdy AKA 小龙女 has finally joined me and meow meow in the age of 2x... heehee... a woman must never reveal one's age, even if everyone else already knows... welcome to the club birdy....

today is of course, my 表妹's birthday... had one hell of a party on tuesday... and ruth managed to accomplish what she wanted to do, which is to make jiahui cry... kekeke...

also, it's junli's birthday too... dear, wat u want for present ah...? must tell us kk... will bomb u with lotsa sms if u dun at least give us some ideas...

happy birthday to u all darlings....

Some thoughts at work

Counting down to my 2 months of employment, I am starting to feel real depress... Talking about it doesn't help anymore... I have so much mixed feelings about everything. Tears seems to be at the brim of my eyes everytime I sit down and look at my work... Maybe it is healthier to get a dairy to write down my thougts...

tuesdays with Morrie

wednesday morning, on the MRT to work...

the moment i started reading this book, i had to constantly sniff back tears that threatens to roll down my eyes... i know i know, i cry too easily... but can you really blame me for loving this book...

i'm sure everyone who read this book is somehow touched by the story... as yomay says, it's one of those inspirational books that if you're a sentimentalist like me, you'll totally fall in love with... or if you're one that likes more drama and brain-thinking, might think this as boring...

thank goodness i'm the sentimentalist and closet-bimbo...

heehee... i really am a closet-bimbo... and i'm not afraid of saying it loudly and proudly... i'd rather read books that do not require me to think too much...

plus if i'm reading brain-bloggering books, i tend to keep thinking abt the storyline, even when i'm not reading it and wouldn't stop til i finish the book... it's juz too tiring to think so much over a book...

give me bimbo or sentimental books anytime.... =P

anyway, i finished tuesdays with Morrie after i got back from my AU supper outing at birdy's place...

couldn't read the last few pages when i was in choir juz now, cos i could totally feel my tears at the back of my eyes... this is something i could only do in the safety of my room...

i shall not be like my dear biao-mei who cried very badly in the MRT over a manga even I didn't cry over...
(that's for saying i'm slow, =P)

to the other pple, read the book... already regret not reading it much earlier... *sighs*

tp, thanks for lending the book to me...

anime news...

ok, part 2... cos i realized it'll be too long to put everything together in one entry...

----------------------------------------

in anime news...

summer is upon us... well, technically, it's upon japan, not sg... so new anime series are out...

here's the few that i've watched so far:
W = can watch, but not to keep
WK = can watch and keep

1) Zero no Tsukaima (W) - feel like i'm watching Shakugan no Shana again... which, is true to a certain extend since the 2 main leads are voiced by the same seiyuus in SnS... magician-in-training girl summons boy, who juz happens to be sucked into a portal while walking on the streets, as her servant... he wants to go back to japan and she wants a better servant, but for now, they're stuck with each other...

currently on ep2, so not much progress yet with the plot... hoping for story to develop more...

2) Bokura ga Ita (W) - typical shoujo manga series... high school setting, girl likes popular guy... how they got together blah blah blah...

not that interesting... i'm on ep2, but if things dun pick up by the next episode, i'm gonna drop this...

3) Angelique (WK) - girl brought to foreign planet where she's in training to be the next queen... helping her along, are her 9 guardians... this series is supposed to mark the 10yr anniversary of Angelique the game... not sure how they're gonna play out her relationships with the guardians, since it is based on a love-stimulation game...

bishonen-galore... only to be rivaled by Saiunkoku... i've been trying to find the previous OVAs for years... finally, something worth keeping...

4) NHK ni Yokoso (W) - hikikomori (people who shut themselves in) man who thinks that everything around him is a conspiracy, tries to break out after 3 yrs of isolation in his apartment... based on the increasing number of hikikomori, not only in japan but also in other parts of the world...

looks promising... a look into the lives of hikikomori... slight ecchi-edged, but i'm gonna ignore that... i'm interested though, to know more... i mean, how do one isolate oneself so exclusively anyway? i like being on my own, but i still want to go out with friends and haf a social life...

there's still many more summer anime, which i haven't gotten to watch yet... more on them if i ever do...

here's something else to recommend...

Zegapain is a spring anime that i started late on... currently at ep15, though i've only watched until ep7... but the story plot is intriguing (go to ANN for synopsis), and the mechanics looks good... not gundam-type mechanics, but it still looks quite cool... the story has a slight Matrix feeling to it...

for mechanic-style anime, i'm watching the english subbed version... easier to get the names correctly... do not like the literal translated chinese names for machines... it's as bad as them translating celebrity names...

anyway, for anyone interested in mechanics, Zegapain is for you...

movies movies movies...

lots of new movies for the next 2 month or so... and almost something worth watching every week...

latest movie was catching Superman Returns... i think i'm one of the few people who actually did watch the old Christopher Reeves ones, cos almost everyone i ask did not watch it before... they only know him is the superman-guy, or the superman-guy had the terrible horse-riding accident that left him paralyzed...

seriously... nobody watched the old superman movies? where, i distinctly remember, Gene Hackman, as the evil Lex Luthor? no? anyone?

*sighs* generation gap...

my dad used to have tons of movies and cartoons all recorded on video tapes... and my sis and i would spend practically the whole day watching, and rewatching, every single tape in the house, so much so that we would even memorize the script lines of everyone in the show...

too bad we dun haf the tapes now... i can only say, fungi grows...

well, i'm looking forward to watching Pirates tmr with some of the church members... been quite long since we had a movie outing...

and i'm looking forward to Keanu and Sandra's The Lakehouse, coming out next week...

den there's The Fast & Furious 3 (wohoo! RX-7!!) the week after...

so many movies... so little time...

for anime news, pls read the next entry...

FF:XII

for someone who hasn't own a gaming console since primary school, how i wished there was someone who can juz play the entire Final Fantasy XII for me... while i sit there and look at the story unfold before me...

heehee... i know... wishful thinking...

was watching all the FFXII movie clips on youtube.com and i gotta say it's looks really good... since i dun actually play the game, i can't say how good the storyline really is, but the ending movie did make me cry abit... but of course, i'm one who can cry at the drop of a hat... so, most other pple should not be crying... just me...

and guess wat... the voice seiyuu who does Sanji, Hirata Hiroaki, is voicing one of the main characters, Balthier, in the story...

*enters an overjoyed RR*

which fuels my wishful thinking of asking someone to play the game for me...

arghh!!!

they should have the full length movie version once everyone is done playing with it... den pple like me who are unable to own a PS2 can still enjoy the game by watching from start to finish...

end of F/SN and other ramblings

F/SN...

thot the ending for Fate/Stay Night was good... comparing to Mai Hime, who also had alot of killings and deaths, somehow, i preferred F/SN's ending... can't pinpoint why though... juz a general feeling...

there's more plot to F/SN, even though it was quite confusing... lots of references of Saber's past as King Arthur and even some of the other Servants are like pple from the past... i still find it weird that they used King Arthur as Saber's past life... even during the flashback, she was in female form, making it even weirder...

but other than that, the whole series is good... one of the better anime this season...

other ramblings...

parents and sis going to m'sia for the choir trip from wed to sun... it was a choice of going for the trip or going to shannie's wedding dinner... decided on the dinner cos the invitation was much earlier than the planning of the trip... she IS mine and joreen's da jie... and a wedding is a once in a lifetime thing... u can't juz miss a wedding of a good friend... unless u haf reasons that are in the category of "once in a lifetime"...

anyway, must rem to get cab money from my mom... cos as much as the car is still in sg, she still doesn't allow me to drive, even though i haf a wedding to attend that will probably end like late and is out of the way; and i haf to go to church on sunday which is like super inaccessible from home...

"u're still not steady... and joyce will complain if i allow u to drive within 2 months of getting ur licence..."

erm... excuse me... but can u tink of someone who can drive "very steadily" after they start driving by themselves... and maybe it's me... but with mom in the car, i haf this unconscious impulse to purposely drive more recklessly...

well, that's only during the beginning... i wun do that now... now, i must be as careful as i can... or else, who knows how long after is she going to stop grabbing her seat (really hate seeing that) in fear of being thrown out the window... she has gotta have more faith in the driver... her being paranoid will only make things worse...

so... i will claim cab fare!! even if i can only get it for one trip, most likely the trip to church...

cab fare cab fare cab fare...

finally going to haf another long leave next week... though i still haf to work on monday... not enough pple working, so Teo asked me if i can come back for a day...

sighs... that's not the bad news... the worst news is that there's a stupid mass casualty exercise next sat... and unless u're out of sg or doing nite shift, u haf to come down to lab from 12-6pm...

THAT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!
~_~.`` ~_~.`` ~_~.`` ~_~.``

idiotic idiotic IDIOTIC!!!!!!

i so DO NOT want to spend my birthday at work... of all days, it had to be next sat... when i'm having my block leave and my birthday!!!

i wonder if MC applies for that day...

Ouran High School Host Club

guess who's the latest seiyuu addition in episode 10...

Koyasu Takehito-sama!!!

voicing as Haruhi's okama (japanese 101: slang for cross-dresser) father, i recognized him the minute he came thru the apartment door...

*enters fanatic fan-girl screaming*

i'm so happy he (Koyasu-sama) is in the Host Club production!!!
^_^.``

for those that haven't seen this anime, go download it now!!! it's really really very funny... and full of bishonens and cute scenes...

current top 3 favorite characters:
1) Haruhi
2) Tamaki
3) Honey
meow meow, u're the only one from AU that hasn't watched it yet...

must watch must watch...

the manga though, is somewhat lacking... bought the 1st book, read it, and thought the drawing was quite terrible... i'm hoping the drawing will get better as the story progress...

in any case, episode 10 is fantastic! sort of like to compensate for a not-so-interesting episode 9 last week...
*grins*

highly recommended, this is one of the best spring anime of 2006...

X-Men 3

caught X-Men 3 at The Cathay today...

after watching M:I:3 there, i totally fell in love with the seats... i mean, where else would u find seats tilted at a perfect 45 degrees angle where the head in front of u wun block ur view, a headrest high enough for u to really rest your head on (unlike Lido), and with ample leg space for u not to step on pple's feet while u're getting across to ur designated seat...

shucks... i'm really supposed to be talking abt the movie, not raving abt the wonderful seats...

ok...

so, X-Men 3...

good job on all the special effects and all, but it seriously lacks alot in character development... introducing lots of new characters like Beast and Angel, yet not being able to develop most of them... sure, Halle Berry wants more screen time, but still...

and why is Jean Grey disintergrating everything in her midst? my gosh! she's supposed to be the all powerful Phoenix, not the Disintergrater... and the X-Men with the shortest screen time has to be Cyclops who was the first one to be disintergrated...

den there's my favorite character, Rogue, and they made her such a weakling too... i was still hoping she might join the team when they were at the island, but they made her take The Cure (drug that makes mutants normal again) instead...

no wonder the comic book fans are angry at the movie... overall, like M:I:3, it's a movie for watching the action...

for more story plot, please refer to the original Marvel comic books...

One Piece #264

Ohtani Ikue is back from maternity leave...

finally! i hear her voice voicing Chopper once again in ep. 264...

Ohtani-san... i missed you...

another rendition of the Usoppu's Soge-king (Sniper king) theme song also include in this episode... this song is so funny... almost as nonsensical as Luffy's baka song in the Skypiea arc...

kekeke...

oh! new opening and ending songs also featured... the opening song is called Brand New World by D-51...
NICE!

driving test, among other things...

driving test

more on my God-sent miracle...

friday morning, house phone rang at around 8.30am... Raymond, my driving instructor, couldn't get me on my mobile since i switched it off...

imagine shock and horror when he told me some student of him got a last minute test slot at 10am!!

10AM!!!!

my test was at 11am and i was to have my warm-up lesson (plus circuit practise) at 9.30am!! b'cos of that student of his, that meant, i couldn't go for my circuit practise...

i was in a state of panic... really really panic... especially when my S-curve was the one thing i think abt every time i wake up... and i woke up alot of times the previous night too... >_<.``

he actually wanted to juz meet me before my test, without any practise or wat so ever! like i would ever pass if that happened... my circuit was already compromised, and he still wants to juz meet me before the test??!!!

in the end, he got another instructor, a Mr. Lai, to take me for 1hr, juz driving around the test routes...
well... at least that was better than nothing at all...

and thank God i did haf that 1hr of practise... b'cos the last route that Mr. Lai led me through was the exact route that i took during the test... though i had more marks this time compared to my 2nd attempt, the important thing was that i PASSED!!

i really really PASSED!!!

WOHOO!!!!!

other things...

went for a Dick Lee musical on sunday night with the hong sisters, Man of Letters, staged as the grand finale for NUS' centennial celebrations...

inspired by Professor Arthur Lim's "From a Doctor's Diary", Dick Lee wrote the music and lyrics, while the script was written by Jean Tay... set in the politically unrest Singapore in 1955, the story tells of a geeky medical student who falls in love with his childhood friend once again when they meet during their freshman yr... of cos, in comes his best fren who juz so happens to likes the girl too...

i love the musical... really really love it... Dick Lee is a genius... hands-down... there's no question abt it...

and i have to thank Ike for getting free tickets for us... heehee... Master See was invited to play the violin in the orchestra...

and of course, Lydia for asking me along for it when she was told we could get free tickets...

another of Dick Lee's musical, "Forbidden City", is having its 3rd rerun at the esplanade in Sep... and it seems like Kit Chan will be reprising her role as the young empress dowager...

hmm... i'm thinking of whether i should go for it... since i missed her in Snow.Wolf.Lake...

Saturday, 20 May 2006

3rd attempt

PASSED!!!!

3rd attempt for my driving and i passed!!!!!

WOHOO!!!!!

i'm so so happy...

but seriously... i think it's a God-sent miracle... more abt wat happened in my next entry... needa go sleep now...

it's past 12am and i'm still not asleep yet...
i have work tmr!!!

arghhh........

but... i PASSED!!! i really really PASSED!!!!!!!

ARIA the NATURAL

i love this series...

sequel to ARIA the ANIMATION, it continues the story of trainee gondolier (a person that operates a gondola), Akari, as she learns her trade, while making friends and encounter moments in the beautiful backdrop of Neo Venezia...

if u like series that leaves u with WAFF (warm and fuzzy feeling), this is definitely one to watch...

episode 3 left me reminiscing about my meteor shower experience when i was in malaysia for church camp many years back... how my friends and i try to find the perfect position in front of the bungalow car porch, lying on mattresses or sofas we lug out, and then looking intently for shooting stars as they whizzed across the sky...

think my highest record was more than 10 or so... and it was nearly 6am when we finally decided to stop...

*grins*

thinking back, it really was a fun night...

as much as i love anime with indepth plot and stuff, sometimes, it's good to watch things that doesn't have to get u to think too much... juz to enjoy the nice scenery, laugh at the funny antics and have fun...

after all, "slice of life" genre-types of animes are supposed to make u feel good...

and leave u with a warm and fuzzy feeling...

article taken from May 2006 issue of the Charisma magazine...
20 Big Lies in the DaVinci Code

for Da Vinci Code fans, better to get your facts straight than to trust the book wholeheartedly...

ps. nope, i haven't read the book myself yet... will do after i eventually watch the movie...

taiwan summary

ok, since moo moo/her dog is writing all the details for the trip, i'll juz do a summary... for those that is interested in reading details and see photos of our trip there, go take a look at her blog (link available at the side bottom).

RAIN

if i were given 1 word to describe the whole trip, that would be it...

RAIN!

RAIN!!

RAIN!!!

seriously... the only day it didn't rain, was the day we came back to sg... other days, it was juz raining on and off... it wasn't those heavy downpours, light drizzles that u still have to use an umbrella type...

so u can imagine my whole trip was me, moo moo and our umbrellas... opening and closing, opening and closing, opening and closing... very very irritating...

it's also probably cos of the rain that when we went to the nite markets, there wasn't as much people as expected... the whole atmosphere was already dampened by the rain... the only nite market that still had alot of pple regardless of the rain was shilin nite market... guess it really is the most popular one...

regardless of the rain, we still went out everyday... no use staying in our hotel room since there's nothing much to do except watch TV... should still call it a blessing that at least we weren't hit with typhoon rains cos that will really mean we have to stay in...

taiwanese are really helpful...

throughout our trip there, we keep meeting very nice people... maybe we really haf a tourist look, but whenever we look lost looking at our maps, they'll juz simply approach u and ask if u need directions... this is something that singaporeans will never go... approach someone to help them...

big thank u to the many taiwan folks who haf helped us with directions... thank u all very much...

taiwanese are environmental-friendly...

like japan, taiwan is very pro-active in recycling... everywhere u go, whenever u see a trash bin, there's always 2 types... one recycling bin, and another for normal trash... but not that u would see alot of trash bins too... many times, we haf to hold our trash for quite long before we actually see a bin... and yet, looking around us, we hardly see any rubbish littered on the ground...

going into convienent stores, like watson's or 7-eleven, u actually haf to pay if u want a plastic bag... and for boutique stores, most will prefer to use paper bags instead...

how encouraging is that?!

this is the type of things that singaporeans should be adopting... using less plastic bags and helping to reduce the amount of rubbish we're burying every year by recycling more...

ever since the article on the TODAY newspaper that states how much plastic bags singaporeans are using per week (estimate 100,000/wk), i've been trying my best to use less... now, i'm more determined to do so...

EATING

ok, i dun think i ate alot during the whole trip... taiwan is full of push-cart food... every corner u turn, every nite market u go to, there's food everywhere... but after going so many places, u'll realize that actually all the food they haf are all the same...

and probably cos we were always walking around, we din really have proper meals, except the last nite where we went to Yong Kang Street and had shabu-shabu (japanese steamboat)...

we did try most of the interesting food though... most memorable was the HUGE takoyaki that was the size of 3 normal ones... moo moo will probably haf that photo in her blog...

SHOPPING

spent money on both clothings and manga...

heehee...

when me and moo moo said we were going to lug manga back, we really lugged them back... besides the 5-6 books i helped meow meow buy, i bought like 12 books for myself and of cos, my PoT 30.5 artbook!!

the trip to wufenpu wholesale was more beneficial for me than for moo moo... though i din spent as much as i expected... taiwan fashion now is all lace... lace is everywhere and anywhere... being a person that doesn't like too much lace, that about cut half the amount of clothes i could haf bought... much worse for moo moo i would say, who totally DO NOT (!) do lace...

ONSEN

last but not the least, our onsen (aka hot spring) experience!

went to Xinbeitou instead of Wulai... if it weren't raining, we would haf gone to Wulai so we could walk the conservatory area too... anyway, the hot spring at beitou was quite good also lah... not that i haf anything to compare it to...

u know whenever u see japanese lounging around in the hot springs for long periods in the movies/series/anime/manga... well... in real life, that doesn't happen...

i could only soak in for a maximum of 10min before i had to get out because of breathing difficulties and the fact that it's too hot to stay in any longer... and even den, i had to get out slowly cos i would be feeling giddy...

for those that are hot spring amateurs like me, 15mins is the max u should be staying in... get out after that for a 5min breather before attempting to go in again...

maybe it would haf been better if it was those open-air rooms, or even the public baths... cos there'll be more air circulations and u probably wouldn't have problems with breathing... it gets very stuffy in closed rooms...

-------------------------------------

all in all, it was still a good trip...
except for the rain and the otherwise terrible scooters we always have to dodge everywhere...

mom was asking me yesterday where is my next destination after taiwan...

hmm...

japan is definitely somewhere in the next 2yrs... an AU trip hopefully...

there's also the cruise trip i'm hoping some might be interested...

redang island? need some major suntan-ing...

bali? my weekend biao-mei was hoping for a Hong and Toh sisters trip...

hmm....

but before any of these can be achievable...

let's stock up on my travelling savings first...

Ice Age...

apparently, watching the first screening of the day has many perks...

like being the only 4 pple in the whole theatre, or being able to laugh as hysteric as allowed, or the possibility of actually conversing out loud with ur friends without the rest of the theatre looking at u from all sides...

oh... and also being able to put ur leg on the seat in front of u... haha...

ice age 2 was funny and entertaining... though it's mostly due to the antics of the walnut-obsessed squirrel...

hmm...

is it a squirrel? there's squirrels in pre-historic times right...
ok, let's juz assume it is...

oh! not forgetting Cid and Diego... given they're really supposed to be in a prey and its predator type of situation, they provided lots of the comic relief thru-out the show...

but hey, that's what animation is supposed to do... how else was "A Shark's Tale" gonna get by with the shark being overtly friendly to all fishes... "fishes are friends, not food"...

next up... X-MEN 3!!!

---------------------------------

and no, i did not forget...

2 days to TAIWAN!!!!!!!

bought my stuff and changed my money...

"big auntie" still not here yet though...

*begging voice*

pls come... pls come... pls come...

PS. according to my sis, schizo is not a person having split personality, or even one or more alternative personalities...

schizophrenia is defined as a condition when a person has hallucinations of others trying to harm them or something like that... will haf to get the more medical definition soon...

so... i'm not schizo... i juz haf more alternative personalities... as does everyone else... teehee... so, moo moo... u dun haf to worry that much...

countdown to taiwan and F/SN...

officially, it's 3 more days to taiwan!!

WOOHOO!!!

things i need to do before saturday...
1) change NT dollars... (gg down to raffles exchange @ JP to do it later)
2) pack luggage... (will do so on thurs, after i get off my nite duty and get enuff sleep)

5) hope my "big auntie" comes asap... ok, this is not a 'do' thing... i WANT (to the point of begging) it to come... pls come...

moo moo... haf u started packing ur luggage or change money yet??

haf u started converting the anime u're intending to bring there??

i'm so looking forward to saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!

all my manga, here i come!!!!

-----------------------

juz finished updating myself on Fate/Stay Night... currently, i'm up to date at ep15...

juz cried buckets during ep14 when Archer died...

although he died valiantly while fighting berserker, who has like 12 lives (wat is he, a cat?), really, why can't the characters i like stay in the series til the end...

*burst out crying again*

examples include, nuriko (FY); shuro (ayashi no ceres); sieg hart (rave master); Mwu La Flaga(GS, though alive again in GSD); hotohori-sama (FY), and many many more....

*sniffs*

now archer??

i gotta stop liking characters that die early... my tears not enuff to go around...

*sniffs*

but still, it's a great anime... birdy... u haf gotta watch this... go download... u'll be hooked... instanteously...

-----------------------

*change of attitude*

i'm so going TAIWAN on saturaday!!!

mwhahaha..........

恋上我的床

i love my new mattress...

yes... i finally got my new mattress, along with a new bedframe and chest of drawers, on friday...

aside from the new bed frame being so high that my legs can't reach the floor when i sit down, everything about it is fantastic...

seriously, i never thought i'll be raving abt a slab of mattress too... but it's juz too good to not tell everyone about...

i'm those that love hard mattresses and hard pillows... give me a fluffy pillow and i'll wake up with a terrible stiff neck the next day...

so u can imagine how delighted i was that the mattress was very sturdy and hard... even i had a initial shock when i sat on it for the first time... it was even harder than my old mattress!

but once i was lying on it, it was a totally different feeling... it's as if the initial hardness was never felt at all... the size is slightly wider than my old one, 42 inch compared to the old 38 inch... suddenly, i had more space around me to nuah and toss and turn... and, there was an extra layer of sponge that made the bed very cooling...

i almost didn't want to get up for work on sat...

*sighs*

i love my new mattress...

coughing fits...

my sore throat has now developed into a cough...

and how irritating it gets...

rather than having sporadic coughs, i haf long coughing fits which usually makes my throat even more irritated as i cough and sometimes, even to a point that i am almost hacking away as if my lungs are gonna be coughed up...

once again... why do i not haf fever or those mild illness that will juz go away with 1-2 days of bedrest...

i hate coughs...

as much as i abhor the flu or sore throat...

anyway, put up some new movies and anime to look out for in the coming months... lots of sequels... ice age 2, fast and the furious 3, x-men 3, pirates of carribean 2, etc...

new anime include, aria, ah my goddess 2 (Yeah!!), xxxholics, GSD spinoff (ughh) etc... can't wait all to come out soon...

wat is it with sequels that people keep going back to watching them even though they're always only half as good as the first one? me included...

it's still a mystery yet to be solved...

akito

OMG!!
the nicest, sweetest picture of akito ever from the latest furuba chapter... (chp124)

lots of things have happened and i'm not gonna spoil people, but juz thot i'll give an eye-treat to those who are currently reading furuba...

the manga is ending soon... i can't wait for the conclusion... given the story climax is almost over, i'm hoping for a good, non-abrupt ending... unlike hanakimi, or worse, shaman king... *bleh*

in other news...

i bought my new hp... VS2 brown...

*sighs*

i miss my pink phone...

rubbish things...

really wanted to blog abt Munich, but so much other rubbish things happened to me over the weekend... and it all started with my kayaking trip to east coast on sat...

rubbish thing No.1: lost my VS2 Pink phone
ahhhh!!!! stupid stupid stupid... i dun even remember when i lost it... probably dropped it at the MacDonald's where we were meeting... i'm upset, but i'm surprised that i'm not that upset... but that, i meant like tearing-hair, screaming and cursing and swearing upset...

*sighs* guess age does gets on you... you tend to let things go more easily...

oh well... i'm gonna get back the same phone, with my mom's hp plan... the VS2 at retail price is still expensive... freaking $398 even after like 1yr plus...

anyway, thank God that day i brought my PDA out with me... cos i was going to attend a friend's mom's funeral service, and if i din haf my PDA, i wouldn't have all my contacts ready at hand and i wouldn't be able to contact my friend to get the address...

and thank God i regularly update my contacts too... cos i would've lost all my contacts with my phone if i din...

rubbish thing No.2: terrible sunburn
one of the worst sunburn i've ever gotten... my hands, my legs, my FACE!! i was in extreme pain while undergoing internal combustion at the same time... din even dare to cross my legs for the 1st few days cos it was so painful to apply pressure on my legs which were still emitting extreme heat... couldn't turn while sleeping cos my arms were emitting heat too...

i hate to say this, but donny, it's really your fault... either directly or indirectly... wat happened to be a 2hr kayaking became a 4hr thing cos we had to try to retrieve back that single kayak which you sat on...

of cos, we were also at fault for not putting on sunblock... everyone forgot to bring, and was too stingy and lazy to buy a new one...

i bet they were thinking the same thing as me, "it's ok, only 2hrs mah... sunburn abit also nevermind..."

i'm never going to think that again when i go kayaking...

well, thank God that the sunburn was only on the front side (abit bad also lah, cos got uneven tan), or i wouldn't have been able to sleep at all if my back was burnt too...

rubbish thing No.3: got sick
think it was all the heatiness and not drinking enough fluids, but right after we finished, i developed a sore throat... got worst cos i was working on sun night and din get to sleep... mom bought herbal tea for me and i was finishing it even before 10pm!!

thank God i still had one packet of 夏桑菊 (xia sang ju) herbal tea in the pantry... would've gotten much worse without it... that was my life-saver!!

anyway, i got 2 day mc for it... heehee... the extra day was not really for the sore throat (which haf now developed into a cough), but i think i would be writhing in my lab coat with my terrible sunburn if i went back on tue or wed...

my face is a sight to see now... have patches all over, esp on my forehead... i look terrible!! another thing to thank God for, went to cut my fringe last week... if not, nothing will be able to stop people from staring at my very ugly forehead now...

wat i need to do for the next few weeks:

stop myself from peeling off the dry skin on my face!!!

i noe... i got ichy hands....

ARRGGGHHHH!!!!!

all in all... i wouldn't say it was a terrible week... it was a lousy week with all the rubbish things... but i did enjoy the kayaking, even if it turned out to be longer than expected... and through the rubbish things that happened to me, i still managed to experience God work in His small ways...

there's always something to be gained out of the "bad" things that happened in life... it's whether you choose to see it or not... i prefer to be the more optimistic one...

the glass is always half filled...

smile everyone... ^_^.``

RR's PoT ranking

after procrastinating for so long...

RR's PoT ranking
(after 31 books and 178 episodes)
*images courtesy of youthful days gallery*

1) Fuji Syuusuke - still my fav... he's juz way too cool in the tennis courts... love him in all the chibi episodes too... mwahahaha... did i mention that he has a sadistic streak too... kekeke... think so... BUT!! i so didn't want him to lose to tezuka... >_<."

2) Kikumaru Eiji - Hoi hoi!! he's my next fav now! u juz can't stop grinning or laughing when eiji's around... he's an even better mood maker than momo... and u can see that perfectly during the Junior Invitational Team story arc... kawaii!!

3) Atobe Keigo - HA! i bet there's a big "HUH??!!" going around now... or maybe not... hmm... judging from my preference of anime bishonens, the possibility is quite high really... captain of Hyotei Gakuen, i'm starting to love him and his arrogant ways...

he's super rich and has no problems in flaunting it around... he's also super flashy whenever he makes an entrance to the courts before a game... kekeke...

maa, he did accept tezuka's request to have exchange games with seigaku during their training even though he wasn't obliged to... so he's not that bad... and he trains really hard by himself too...

4) Tezuka Kunimitsu - he's not around much since he's all the way in germany doing rehab for his arm... but when he is around, he never fails to give people the feeling that everything's gonna be alright...

5) Shishido Ryou - yup, another one going up on the charts... i'm getting to love the players from the other schools a lot... he and ohtori are a great doubles team... almost as good as eiji and oishi... rem i said he was very haughty in the beginning? well not anymore... but that doesn't mean you can push him around too...

6) Momoshiro Takeshi - momo's still momo... ever as funny, ever as mischievous... put him together with eiji and they're an unstoppable duo that loves to meddle into other people's business with hilarious results...

7) Sengoku Kiyosumi - Yamabuki's "lucky Sengoku"... after being defeated by momo and kamio during the prefectural games, he decided to change the way he plays tennis... his comeback in the junior invitational team (and defeating momo in a match) was what put him in top 10 placing... he actually incorporated boxing style into tennis... another great mood maker, and one that loves chasing after girls too... haha...

8) Akutagawa Jirou - No. 2 Ace from Hyotei, u'll see him sleeping most of the time, but when he meets strong competitors (eg. Fuji), he wakes up from his half-sleep state and get really really excited... even when he lost to Fuji during the prefectural games (of course!), he had a very happy face... he really does loves a good match...

9) Oshitari Yuushi - Hyotei's own tensai player... even has his own higuma otoshi like fuji... difference between them is that oshitari is more of a doubles player while fuji is a singles player... he's the tensai for doubles... love his kansai-ben... heehee...

10) Hikaru Amane - from Rokkaku, he's the king of all bad puns... but sometimes, even his bad puns are funny... heehee... one of his team mates, Kurobane Harukaze can't stand it and always hits/kicks him after he tells a bad pun... uses a special racket made by his coach (who is this very very old man) that has a long handle... in fact, each member of Rokkaku has their rackets hand-made by the coach...

comedy moments in PoT, brought to you by:

Inui - nothing can stop him from inventing new juices and upgrading his Penal-Tea (note: pun intended)

Kawamura Takashi (Taka-san) - "BURNING!!" that's wat Taka-san says whenever he holds a tennis racket in his hand... usually, he's the timid, shy, and helpful person... But once he takes up a racket, his personality changes... Drastically... ryoma used him on many occasions whenever they're doing laps to make a way thru the other regulars in front of him... heehee...

*sighs*

european chocolates are always the best...

tenipuri end...

finished! I've finally finished!!!!

All 178 episodes of the Prince of Tennis!!!

I think i must've watched more than 80 episodes in the past week. but it was worthed it to finish up the entire series before the OVA starts in 2 weeks' time.

Roar Roar's commentary for Tenipuri...

the good...

Chibi attacks
haha... always the highlights after a major competition... I love the chibi episodes, esp the last few ones which had the seigaku team playing different members of a family... hilarious to the end...

Junior Invitational Team camp
now this is something that i love... and one of the better fillers i've seen compared to that in kenshin or bleach... had most of the best players from the kantou schools in a training camp to choose the best players to go against the US Junior Invitational Team.

the matches were great and you get to see combinations btn the diff schools... from fuji-saeki pairing, to a rematch between sengoku and momo...

fav singles match, atobe VS sanada
fav doubles match, eiji-ootori VS oishi-shishido

Tezuka VS Fuji
spanning 3 episodes at the end of the series, it was a fantastic match!! just dun watch it while ur sibling is sleeping behind u and all u want is to scream "YOSHA!!!" when Fuji gets a point... heehee... but that's just me...

the not so good...

Storyline
ok, the story drifted from the manga right when they started prepping for their game with Rikkaidai... the formation for the teams during the Seigaku-Rikkaidai matches were still the same, but the matches in the manga were much more exciting...

Ryoma in US Open
HUH!?!?!
i thot that was going abit far out. he's only13 for goodness' sake!!

and defeating tezuka in the final episode?!?! i'm already sadden that fuji was defeated by tezuka during the regulars ranking tournament...

no doubt this is ryoma's story but it should be alittle realistic wat... this is tennis, not ninjitsu...

on the last episode...
seriously, there was too much "special effects" during the ryoma-tezuka match that i thot i was watching gundam or cooking master boy or something...
i mean, wat's with all the cylones & energy blasts scenes when you really want to see the ball going back and forth the players? too much dramatization...

but overall, tenipuri is a great series... lots of exciting matches, bishonen-galore, very very cute chibis, funny sempais & even funnier moments of inui juices (penal-tea, aozu, akazu)...

i'm so looking forward to the OVA. it's right where they left off in the series.

NATIONALS!!!

next entry: tenipuri top 10...

heehee....

2nd attempt

failed my 2nd driving test, though the 1st one was taken like more than 3 yrs ago...

another immediate failure, which was frankly, quite stupid of me... esp when i did quite well for my circuit... no marks deducted in there... all the marks were from my road actually...

i reacted slow when i was supposed to be turning right and stopped right in the middle of the pedestrian crossing and abit out into the main road... i should haf turned when the traffic light (din haf right turn arrow) flashed orange but i din...

arghhhh.....!!!

stupid me.........

went home, ate my chocolates (my anti-depressants) while watching an episode of PoT and den went back to sleep...

woke up, still feeling alittle depressed, but oh well... life still goes on... i still haf work later at night...

next test date: 24/05/06

*determined look*

MUST PASS!!

Dramatic Morning

very long never blog liao. everytime i blog is either i am freaking angry or something big happened. for this entry, something big happened....

okie i should start from the moment i wake up (sorry if i bore u to death, but i am not very good at story telling, especially in the form of writing)

0900 - woke up to go blk 328 prata store with daddy

1030 - finish prata, daddy took bus to alexandar hospital see dentist. i went home to spay pesticides (debug my final yr project)

1140 - daddy called my HP... he juz said hello then say call me back later

1200 - hospital called said daddy had reaction to anethesitic... daddy's heart pumped very fast and felt giddy. OMG, i nearly fainted... they asked me go hospital escort daddy home...

*fast forward (change clothes, went to draw $$ take cab*

-in cab liao-

meow: uncle, alexandar hospital

*cab driver looks at meow meow, puts on sunglasses (acted like very stylo like dat) and start speeding towards the heavy afternoon traffic*

kaoz, he drove freaking fast lor. then cut lanes like nobody's biz. he nearly crashed into a large cargo lorry. i saw the lorry driver showing him middle finger and he juz ignore... hahaha... but thanks to him, i reached AH is less than 20min

-in the hospital-

*meow meow locates dental clinic*

nurse: your dad blah blah (explains my dad's condition and possible cause)

*daddy was still resting, looked pale*

he scared me lor, first time in my life i muz handle this kinda thingy alone

i muz compliment AH for having very caring healthcare workers. my special thanks to nurse leow and dr tina. they showed genuine conceern for my dad, helped us with the administrative work and escorted us to the taxi stand... they are wonderful....

after that is the boring stuff liao. reached home, went to buy lunch for daddy blah blah blah....

stunned...

went to watch Fearless with moo moo today at JP...
a most unexpected thing happened...

wat happened when we showed the ticket to the lady in charge...

*lady looks at tickets. den takes a look at us (or mainly me)*

Lady: excuse me, can u show me ur IC pls.

*enters shocked faces of roar roar and moo moo*

animals: HUH??

*animals fumbling for ICs, still feeling very bewildered at being asked. shows lady proof that we are INDEED more than past the age*

Lady: sorry, but u guys look younger than u look. (she looks alittle sheepish here)

i guess there's a first time for everything... but i definitely wasn't expected to be stopped for watching a NC-16 show... M-18, probably... R-21, possibly... but NC-16??

i dunno whether i should feel insulted or happy... i'm sure my dear biao-mei is laughing her head off as she reads this...

anyway, review for Fearless...

one word...

OUCH!!

yes, it's a martial arts show... but seriously, there's so much bones cracking i had to cover my ears and eyes more than i should be...

for OP fans who is up to date with the anime, remember the scene when Robin was fighting with Yamato in the Skypiea arc where she cracks all the possible bones she can in his fat body?

think fearless as a 1 hour plus version of that...

eww...

other than that, it was a great show... think Jet Li really went all out and did all the fighting he can with this last movie... watching this, i can see why he needs to stop doing these shows... it's too body harming...

Anime News:

Bleach #67 and One Piece #256 released...

finally watched Mai Hime... it started out quite nicely, but got slightly disgusted with it towards the end... especially when the HiMEs started going after each other and people started getting killed...

thought the ending wasn't that fantastic either, but it couldn't have been any better anyway with the way the story was proceeding...

for less violent anime, i recommend Kage Kara Mamoru...

story summary: the Kagemori ninja family has been protecting their neighbours, the Konnyaku family for the past 400yrs...
only, this is to be done in secret and the neighbours must not find out about it... this gets harder as the Konnyaku daughter has a knack for finding trouble and it's up to the Kegemori son to protect her...

quite cute, funny antics and funny ninjas and yazukas... not for the serious-minded... this series is purely for laughs...

1 day to CNY...

WOHOO!!!
it's finally juz down to 1 day to CNY!!!

aside from the fact that i'm currently on night shift now, i'm so happy i'm finally having my block leave!!

i'm having second thoughts about having un-interrupted sleep in my house... with my grandma's loud and "persistant" noise-making, i'm thinking i'll have to wake up every morning to put on some music to attempt to drown her voice...

Anime News: Bleach #65 and One Piece #254 both released and watched...

comments:-

on Bleach -> ok, the filler story seems quite stupid now... 2 grown men and a girl trying to kidnap Ichigo-gumi (hey! if kenshin has the kenshin-gumi, so can ichigo), since they got not juz Orihime but also Chad in the latest episode.

on OP -> i think Ohtani Ikue is sick or something, cos suddenly, i hear this unknown voice speaking Chopper's lines... eww.... i hope she comes back soon...

Sunday, 22 January 2006

1 week to CNY...

looking forward to CNY next sunday... not so much really of the ang baos or visiting, since they've been on a steady decline since years ago... u would wonder why that happens especially when most of my cousins are married and with kids... and i'm not so high on visiting either...

anyway, the difference this yr is that i'm on block leave for the CNY week... very excited to finally get a chance to sleep in all i wan this time as my previous (and only) block leave last yr was spent shuttling to and fro NUH since grandma was admitted due to a UTI (urinary tract infection).

after getting so used to shift work, it's really very tiring when i have to work day shift almost everyday these past 2 weeks... even when i have an afternoon shift, it's not as if i could sleep that late anyway...

therefore, my main motive this CNY block leave: to sleep as much as i can...! ohohohoho...

of course, i still have my driving lessons and probably some social outings with friends (makan anyone? KTV?), but sleep is my main priority...

gosh...

i'm starting to sound like garfield...

ps. bought my 1st ever cheongsum today... who knows, this might be the only time i get to fit in... this time next yr, i might haf gained that 1kg (or more) that will get me back to my ideal weight... *cross fingers*

Bleach filler arcs

guess it's that time of the year when all the mangakas are rushing madly in making their deadlines for the jump magazines cos the anime people are way too fast in producing the episodes and catching up to the manga chapters...

Bleach has gone into filler arcs, much as Naruto has been (according to meow meow) since late last year... good thing One Piece is over with that, though no new episodes for the last 1 month has been taking a toll on me...

but finally!!
this sunday!!
the long awaited ep254 will be aired!! WOHOO!!!
SANJI!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
*coughs*

how did i go from Bleach to OP again...

*sheepish*

anyway, back to Bleach...

i've finished up to last week's special 1-hr ep63... quite funny, with the reappearance of Kon after so, so long...

i'm still in the process of d/ling this week's ep(64)...

looking at some other blog that put up some screen caps, seems like it's gonna be renji fanservice...

*grins happily*

Manga News: One Piece #40 is out!! OMG! that's so fast, considering i bought #39 in dec!

Tuesday, 10 January 2006

SANJI!!

new blog picture...

looking over my extensive One Piece picture album, and thot it was time for a change...

*sighs*

he's so dreamy...

ps. i can't rem where i took the picture from, so i'm not even sure if it's fan-drawn or by Oda himself... if it's fan-drawn, owner, pls email me so i can credit back to you... ^_^.``

lazy lion

1st post from roar roar for Yr2006...

december has always been a busy month for me... always, with christmas preparations and the year-end camp all lumped together in one month, add in my many afternoon shifts and driving lessons, there's hardly any time to take a good rest inbetween...

and even less time to stop and spend time blogging...

being the procrastinating person that i am, it's a wonder i even started today's entry... den again, i'm on my 1st night shift in 2 weeks, and it's a relatively quiet night today... heehee...

anyway, 2006 will be another busy year ahead...

Main Highlights:

1) Disciple 2 (D2) classes...
a bible study class on sundays, i'm looking forward to classes, even though it's much longer than the usual sunday school classes.

we have homework to do everyday, and as tiring as it seems, it's much easier than when i was in Disciple 1 class because we're only doing 4 books in the bible (compared to the whole bible in D1).

2) YAMS aka Young Adult Ministry Small Group
the conversion of SMYF to small group format. we'll be using the book, Purpose Driven Life, as our study material. more readings to do besides the D2 homework.

3) Taiwan trip in April
never before "adventure" trip to taiwan with moo moo... spending abt 9days there.

our aim, to satisfy our cravings for anime and manga... i think we'll both be bring alot of manga back... mwahaha...

4) Chinese Choir trip to M'sia
a 1st ever trip to m'sia to the churches in a few states. planning has started, but because of the different work and school schedule, we're still not confirm of the exact dates to go.

5) Dog Year
oh my gosh!! it's another Dog Year!! 2 rounds of 12yrs have passed and i'm going to be 24 this year!!

things (that i can rem for now) to do, or not do, in 2006... (note: these are not resolutions)

1) to really, really, really try to sleep early.
my eyebags are getting more and more obvious, that no matter how much concealer i use, it's still no use...

2) read more christian-based books.
lacking in this area, since i'm usually too lazy to pick up anything besides my ODB (our daily bread) and bible.

3) pass my driving test.
if i fail in feb, i'm gonna have to do it again... i hope i pass... *prays*

4) save more money.
'nuff said...

5) finish those short-series anime i have been keep for the past yr or so.
haf more block leaves this yr, so shouldn't be a problem. heehee...

it's only the 8th day of 2006... another 348 days to go...
